ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics,diagnosis and treatment of polycythemia vera(PV) transforming to acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Methods The clinical features and process of diagnosis and treatment in 4 cases of PV transforming to AML were analyzed.Results The case 1 had 10 years history of PV,after experiencing PV,had myelofibrosis and transformed to AML at the end stage of natural disease course;the case 2 had 7 years history of PV,orally took hydroxyurea(HU) treatment in recent 2 years and transformed to AML at present,his chromosome karyotype analysis showed 46,XY,del(7)(q31q36),del (18) (q22)[10],which was considered as treatment-related AML;the case 3 and 4 orally took H U for a long time after diagnosing HU,and respectively turned into AML during the pathologic polyemia stage after 6 and 7 years.Conclusion PV can be transformed to AML,the safety of HU in treatment should by paid attention to.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of bromhidrosis with botulinum toxin A by needle free injection.Methods A total of 40 patients with bromhidrosis were collected and divided into needle free group and needle group.A comparative study was carried out in those subjects.Patients in needle free group received needle free injection of botulinum toxin A by INJEX30;Needle group received traditional injection by 26 G needles.Results In needle free group,16 cases were cured,3 cases were effective,1 case was ineffective,no significant pain,hematomas or necrosis were found.In needle group,15 cases were cured,4 cases were effective,and 1 case was ineffective;localized hematoma occurred in 2 cases.And cases in group needle experienced pain more intensely than cases in needle free group.Conclusions The INJEX30 improves the security,comfort and therapy compliance of botulinum toxin A injection in the bromhidrosis patients,with similar efficacy with traditional injection.

ABSTRACT

Aims To observe the influences of met-formin ( MET ) on the expression of renal tissue ad-vanced glyclation end-products( AGEs) protein and its receptor mRNA ( RAGE mRNA ) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) model rats, and to discuss the mech-anism of the MET in the treatment of diabetic nephrop-athy ( DN ) . Methods The rat model of T2 DM was established by fed with high-fat diet and intraperitoneal injection of low-dose of streptozotocin ( STZ ) . All rats were randomly divided into metformin group( MET,300 mg·kg-1 ·d-1 ) , glyburide group( GLY,5 mg·kg-1 ·d-1),T2DM model group(T2DM) and normal con-trol group ( NC ) . After 8 weeks ’ observation, blood glucose ( BG ) , glycated hemoglobin ( HbA1 c ) , blood urea nitrogen(BUN), urinary albumin,urinary AGEs and urine creatinine were detected. The expression of renal tissue AGEs was detected by immunohistochemis-try assay, and the expression of RAGE mRNA was measured by real-time PCR. Results The levels of BG, HbA1c , urinary albumin/urine creatinine ( UACR ) , glomerular basement membrane thickness ( GBMT ) in MET group and GLY group were signifi-cantly lower than those of T2DM group, while higher than those of NC group(P0. 05 ) . The urinary AGEs/urine creatinine( UGCR) , the expressions of re-nal tissue AGEs and RAGE mRNA in MET group and GLY group were significantly decreased compared with those of T2 DM group ( P < 0. 05 ) , but higher than those of NC group ( P <0. 05 ) . The UGCR, the ex-pressions of AGEs and RAGE mRNA in MET group were lower than those of GLY group(P<0. 05). Con-clusion MET can reduce the accumulation of AGEs in the renal tissue,and down-regulate the over-expres-sion of RAGE mRNA in T2DM rats.
